Twilight Bicycle Race, November 14, 2012, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, Hwy 68, Monterey CA Cyclists can take to the track on their own bikes to experience the thrill of pedaling Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, including the challenging 300-foot climb and awe-inspiring descent down the world-famous Corkscrew. The rides/races are always informal and the 11 turn 2.238 mile course is open to all levels of cyclists. Helmets are required and the cost is $10 per rider.
Callaway Golf Pebble Beach Invitational, November 13 - 18, 2012 The Callaway Golf Pebble Beach Invitational attracts professional and amateur golfers of all stripes to Pebble Beach. The play in this unique tournament is fierce, the setting is breathtaking, and it's free for spectators. The Invitational gives spectators a special chance to watch their favorite golfers in a more intimate and relaxed environment; viewers can even walk down the fairway right behind the golfers.
1/2 Marathon on Moneterey Bay, November 18, 2012 The scenic PG coastline is showcased to thousands of runners at the Big Sur Half Marathon on Monterey Bay. The gently-rolling, 13.1 mile course travels through historic Monterey, down Cannery Row, along Ocean View Blvd., into downtown Pacific Grove and along the coast to Asilomar and back. 7:00 AM TO 3:00 PM Shorter distance 3K and 5K races take place in PG on Saturday. City Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, December 3, 2012 Festivities at Jewell Park includes live entertainment by school bands and choruses, followed by caroling and refreshments at Chautauqua Hall and Santa's first visit to town! The tree lighting begins at 5:30pm.
Christmas at the Inns, December 4-5, 2012 Visit ten Bed & Breakfast Inns decorated for the holidays in Victoria-era splendor. $20 per person for both nights. Limited number of tickets sold. Entertainment and light refreshments served.
Annual Holiday Parade of Lights, December 6, 2012 The lighted parade will feature marching bands, holiday floats, dance teams, equestrian groups, and of course, Santa Claus. After the parade, stores will remain open for holiday shopping and wagon rides, photos with Santa and carolers. Big Sur Mud Run, March 23, 2013Big Sur Marathon invites you to come get "down and dirty" at the 6th annual Mud Run on the last Saturday in March. The Mud Run is an approximate five mile loop course beginning and ending at Freeman Stadium on the CSUMB campus. The challenging but fun course includes hills, water, obstacles, drill sargeants, and yes, plenty of mud. The Run is a Big Sur Marathon event sponsored by the U.S. Army Garrison-Presidio of Monterey and California State University Monterey Bay. Registration is available online: www.bigsurmudrun.org
